“I’m not Tom Sawyer, – thought Polly, - I’m not going to paint the fence. I want to paint a picture.”  She took brushes and a canvas, but she didn’t have paint.  She became very upset about that and started to cry. Her tears dropped on the brush and the brush began to speak.

-    Polly, I know where to get the most beautiful and natural paints. If you paint with these paints your picture will be real and truthful.

-    Yes, - said Polly, - I want a very truthful picture. Tell me where to go.

-    What color do you need first?

-    First of all I want to paint blue sky with white clouds, - decided Polly.

-    Ok. This place is within walking distance. So, let’s go!

Polly and the Brush left home and walked through the park. After that they noticed post office. There was a maternity hospital nearby. When they entered the maternity hospital the Brush pointed the finger at a young mother with a newborn child. The boy was wearing very beautiful and very blue pajama. The color was nice and fresh.

-    That is your blue paint, - said the Brush, - you can take it. And to get white we have to continue our trip.

And they went out. They needed to go to the countryside so Polly stopped one passerby and asked him:
-    Excuse me, could you tell me the way to the station, please?

-    Can you see that pet shop? You should go past the pet shop and you will see library there. Take the first turning on the left and go straight on Green Street. And you will see the station there.

-    Thank you very much, - said Polly and went to the station.

It took about half an hour to get to the countryside. Polly and the Brush walked along the river, after that they went over the bridge, and then they went up the hill and saw many cows there.

-    These wonderful caws have the whitest milk in the world, - said the Brush, - you can use this color for your clouds.

-    That’s great, - whispered Polly, - but now I want to paint a girl. I need pink color for her hair and purple for her dress.

-    Ok. Pink is easy. Let’s go back to the city. I will show you pink is everywhere.

And the friends went down the hill, took the train again and in half an hour they were already in the center of the city.

-    Can you see those loving couples on the square? You can take pink here. Or look at that bus station. Can you see that guy giving a lift to an old lady? There is also pink color in their hearts. A person who is in a good mood is always in the pink.

-    Right. And what about purple?

-    Ok, I will show you purple as well. There are two cars on the crossroads. Can you see them?

-    Yes. One is expensive and beautiful. And another one is very cheap. But none of them is purple, - said Polly.

-    The owner of that cheap car is jealous, - said the Brush, - he also wants to have such a nice car and that’s why he is angry and jealous. That’s what I call purple.

-    Wow. Interesting. Yes, now I also can see that color. The man is really purple! Now show me green!

-    No problem, - said the Brush, - let’s turn right into Oxford Street.  There is a bank near the car park.
And the man who is standing near the traffic light is very greedy.  He wants to have much money, he dreams to be an owner of that bank and all he thinks about is gold. He is green because of these thoughts. Really green.

-    I don’t want to become green, - said Polly, - never in my life.

-    You see, - said the Brush, - colors are everywhere. You can see it when you cross the street or when you are waiting for a bus at the bus stop, or when you go towards the museum. Just choose the best to paint a picture of your life.
